If you're reading this, then I know you love to read as much as I do. And like most of us book-aholics, I'm sure you have your go-to authors and books.
After I finish writing a novel, I tend to binge read, and there are a few PNR authors that I typically run to when I want a book I know I will love again and again. As I thought about this habit of mine, I started trying to piece together my all time favorites. There were a lot, but I've narrowed them down and chose my top five Shifter Romance reads of all time. Or up until today, anyway.
Definitely Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel
by Charlaine Harris
Why did I choose book number six in this brilliant series? One word. Quinn!
If you've read the Sookie Stackhouse Novels, then you know who I'm talking about. One of my favorite shifters of all time is Quinn the tiger with his purple eyes and intense stare. He may not have had as much scene time as other characters in this series, but that didn't make him any less of a strong presence in my opinion.
But it's not just Quinn or Eric (sigh), that caused me to love this series. I like the mystery, solving cases with Sookie, and watching her find love in a world gone mad with supes.
Really the whole series is fantastic. Shifters, Vamps, Fae... I can, and do, read these stories over and over again.

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, Book 1)
by Patricia Briggs
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy... I love her. And Adam, the hot Alpha werewolf next door. As far as I'm concerned, he's just about the most perfect book boyfriend on this planet. Protective, sexy, sometimes demanding, all the time adorable. Yeah... I crushed hard.
Other than the hottie wolves, this series has just the right amount of mystery, action and romance. I can't ever put them down, and I can't freaking wait until the next book comes out!

Full Moon Rising (Riley Jensen, Guardian, Book 1): A Riley Jenson Guardian Novel
by Keri Arthur
This series is AWESOME! From the first book, I was hooked. I love that the heroine is the hottie werewolf. Yes, there are many, many other shifters. Including a horse shifter, which I thought was totally cool. And there are vamps. Nice!
Riley is kick-ass, sexy, and smart. She has needs, and she's not ashamed to take what she wants. I love her!

Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls Book 1)
by Maggie Stiefvater
This isn't a story I would have picked up myself, but a friend brought it to my attention, and I always believe her if she says a book is worth reading. She's never wrong.
Sam and Grace are teenagers that have to fight to survive in a world that seems hell bent on destroying them. Not realizing just how much their lives are connected, they finally find each other, and together, they seek answers. Their journey is a deep, emotional tale that will leave you breathless. Different than any other shifter book I've read to date, this YA story stays with you long after you're finished. Some say it reads slow, and I agree. Normally I don't enjoy those type of stories, preferring the fast pace of action and adventure along with my romance, but there is a reason for the calmer, lyrical tones of Maggie Stiefvater's writing. You feel every last word.

Guilty Pleasures: An Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novel
by Laurell K. Hamilton
Ahh, most of us PNR lovers know Anita well. The bad-ass vampire hunter who breaks hearts (or stakes them depending on how you look at it) without even trying. We all love Jean Claude, the seductive French vampire, but there are a slew of shifters in this series worth mentioning. Wolves, leopards, lions, tigers, and even rats. Oh, and many more.
This series is a go to for me because I love the ass-kicking. I love when Anita goes on a hunt, or raises the dead, or even when she's diving head first into a murder case. Something is always happening in Anita's world.
