The holidays are coming to an end, and as I begin mentally preparing myself for the new year with new goals, I thought back not only about my own work but of the great works from authors I've enjoyed reading this year.
I have a tendency to binge read but if a book really sticks with me, I'll save it to my "re-read" folder. These are books I wouldn't mind reading again and again, and often do, when I want something familiar and safe, with the knowledge that I'm going to love every minute of the reading experience. Inside this folder, I have works by authors such as Patricia Briggs, Penny Reid, Tina Folsom, and many many others.
Though my re-read folder is full to bursting, I'm always adding to it. So, in order of when I read them, here is a list of my top ten reads of 2018. Many of which have made a place in my most loved collection of re-reads.
Intermediate Thermodynamics by Susannah Nix. I love geek rom-com and this one really fits the theme with it's entertaining and witty characters This isn't my first read by Susannah Nix. I read the first book in this series, Remedial Rocket Science, last year and it has one of the coveted spots in my re-read collection.
Night Shift Witch by Cate Lawley. I couldn't put this book down! I read it so fast, my head spun. It was fun and entertaning, and I 'm looking forward to reading more in this cozy PNR series.
The Lost Dragon by Debbie Herbert. Now, you may think I'm being biased adding a BAD Alpha Dad to the list, but I'm certainly not. As I said in my review, Ms. Herbert gave us a thrilling read, full of passion and adventure. I felt like I'd known the characters for years! This one is definitely worth a re-read.
Tainted by Alexandra Moody. I read very few YAs, so the blurbs have to really grab me for me to give it a try. This one did and I could not stop reading until I finished the whole series! I was so sad when it ended. I plan to read this one again soon.
A Date With Fate by Tracy Ellen. This series is another one that hooked me right in. I sped through each story like lightening. Which is saying something as each story is pretty lengthy. This first book caught me off guard right from the beginning. This story, as with the rest of the series, was engaging, smart, and sexy. I'm reading them again!
A Hunter's Passion by Gwen Knight. Most of you know I love Gwen Knight's work, but somehow, I'd totally missed reading this one. It's an orginal take on the hunter falling for the hunted mixed with second chance romance. I loved the characters and hope to see more of them at some point. Hint, hint, Gwen. ;)
Fallen Angel by Abbie Zanders. I love Abbie Zanders. That's no secret. This story is just as awesome as the rest of her work. Fallen Angel was everything I expected and more. You have a cynical businessman and an earth-bound angel who won't tolerate his attitude. It's a match made in heaven!
His Perfect Bride by Merry Farmer. Another genre I don't read much in, historical romance. However, when I do read them, I often enjoy the western romance the best. And even more so the mail-order bride trope. This one was all I hoped it would be. Sweet mixed with a little spice. It was all around a heartwarming tale I plan to read again and again. Along with the rest of the series, of course.
Claiming Her Mates by Dia Cole. This is probably one of the best books I've read this year. I've not read many Reverse Harem Romances, but this one made me feel like I've been missing out. You have a kick-ass heroine and three super hot shifters trying to survive a zombie apocalyptic scenerio. It was sexy, bad-ass and all around a book I didn't want to stop reading. In fact, the only issue I have is that I need the next book now, Dia! ;)
You For Christmas by Madeline Ash. What better way to end the year than with a holiday romance? As usual, I read a good bit of holiday books this year, but this one stood out from the rest. It surprised me and is on my list of favorites this year. It was much deeper and grittier than I expected. There were a few tears. But in the end, it still gave me that feeling I seek with a Christmas Romance and so much more. I'll definitely be reading this one again.
